Microsoft Windows 8 Upgrade Offer

I’d like to preface this by saying that although I will reserve my judgment on Windows 8 until there is a wider audience actually using it, I have absolutely zero hesitation in recommending that clients stick with the proven reliability of Windows 7 for the time being – especially business users.

Microsoft is planning to release Windows 8 to the public on October 26th. The user interface will be dramatically different than previous versions and, according to the early reviews, may take more than a little getting used-to for most users (Real users have no clue how to use Windows 8). For example, there is no traditional “Start” menu which was formerly fairly prominent in the user experience (there is a third-party app which will implant a start menu for those who absolutely cannot do without it – Pokki Brings the Start Menu Back to Windows 8).

That said, Microsoft created this new operating system with a totally different user experience in mind – an experience that may remind users more of their smartphone or tablet than their “old” PC. Clearly, the jury is still out on whether Windows 8 will be the best thing since sliced bread or the worst thing since Windows Vista but this is the direction in which Microsoft is moving, so…

Users who buy a Windows 7 machine between certain dates are entitiled to an upgrade to Windows 8 Professional for a mere $14.99. Of course, there’s always the small print – go here to check it out – Windows 8 Upgrade Offer.
